As a NICU consultant and educator, I get the opportunity to do a lot of traveling! I get paid to visit NICU’s around the globe and sometimes even get the chance to teach others how to create Neuro-Nurturing environments for staff and babies.
As a consultant for medical device manufacturers, I get the chance to attend a lot of different neonatal conferences; and as a self-employed NICU educator I get invited to speak at conferences and visit NICUs and meet so many amazing people doing amazing work.
Some of the highlights from this summer include:
In June, I visited Salzburg, Austria to attend the Annual ESPNIC Meeting (European Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care) and took some time to go sightseeing and saw so many of the places where the classic movie, The Sound of Music, was filmed in 1964. It was both nostalgic and breath-taking.
In July, I spent time with family in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado at our bi-annual family reunion. It was great to reconnect with some of my favorite people who I don’t get to see often enough.
In August, I traveled to Austin, TX for the Innovations in Neonatal Care conference, but took a detour to visit the manufacturing plant for neonatal transport incubators, International BioMedical, and some long-time friends.
This summer it seems that I was in airports, hospitals and hotels more than I was home, but getting to meet and connect with new people and reconnect with long-time friends and family makes it all worth it. And, you better believe I brought my favorite essential oils with me on every trip.
If you are just getting started with essential oils or struggle to decide which of your essential oil collection to bring with you while you travel, doTERRA offers this cute little travel kit that includes four great options to get you started.

Lavender: This is the swiss army knife of essential oils. You can use it on bug bites, sun burns and it’s perfect to help you to relax and get to sleep in new environments.
Wild Orange: This essential oil can be added to a glass bottle of sparkling water (or club soda) for a refreshing treat, especially on hot days. It can help to energize you if you are jet lagging across time zones and can help to boost your immune system.
Peppermint: This essential oil has so many uses!! It helps with occasional headaches, muscle tension, and tummy issues which can happen when we travel. To use, place a few drops into a glass of water to help settle the stomach, put a few drops onto a tissue or cotton ball and placing them into the corners of your room to help repel bugs, or place 1 drop in the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and inhale 3 times to help you stay attentive and aware. After this, rub your hands across the back of your neck or temples to cool you body or soothe tension.
AromaTouch Massage Blend: This oil is a lesser known gem in doTERRA’s list of blends. The name of this blend tells it all – Massage Blend – and it’s perfect to have on hand while you are traveling to help you unwind after a long and eventful day. Rub it in to sore muscles, achy back muscles, or the bottom of your feet after miles of walking.
If you are heading out on a long weekend or extended vacation, be sure to pack your oils, and if you’re stuck on which ones to buy, definitely try these four in doTERRA’s Travel Kit.
Amazing so glad You were able to fit doTERRA functions, or I may never have met you
